Bearing Technical Data

The reference tables behind every bearing quotation: tolerances, fits, load ratings, and the standards they come from. Written for engineers who need the number now and the reasoning behind it, not a reprint of the standard.

ISO 492ISO 286ISO 281ISO 5753-1

How to use these tables

Selection normally runs in one direction: the load and speed decide the bearing type and size, the size decides the bore, and the bore decides the fit and the clearance. Each of those steps has a table here, plus a calculator that does the arithmetic for a specific number.

  • Starting from a duty cycle? Go to bearing life first, then confirm the fit from ISO 286.
  • Starting from a drawing or an incoming inspection report? ISO 492 tolerances is where you check whether the ring should have been accepted.
  • Starting from a competitor model number? Cross-reference maps it to the equivalent from other makers and to the part we hold.

The values here are reproduced from the ISO tables for the common size ranges so you can screen a design quickly. Production and inspection decisions should be taken against the full current standard, and for a specific part against its own catalogue page.

Cannot find the figure you need? Ask us. Clearance tables for cylindrical, self-aligning and spherical roller bearings, vibration limits and grease performance figures are all available on request - send the model and the application.
